So who is angry/sad about what has happened to the EU? And does anyone else believe, like me, that the EU is and will always be canon no matter what the people in charge say?

I have to say, I find the legends term highly offensive. Razz

EU is canon! I can't believe that they just dismissed it like that  Evil or Very Mad

When there are conflicting facts in EU/Movies/TCW, I simply treat it like history- no one is going to remember every exact detail 200 years after it happens. The EU and the new movies could co-exist!

Even though I have not read the EU, I feel that there are so many EU books, it's kinda hard just to dismiss the EU like that. In my mind, the EU is canon, even though these movies will be canon as well. Does that make sense? (Btw, in case y'all didn't know, I did create a topic for this earlier in the "New SW movies" section if you want to comment there too)

Thanks guys! I agree, it is wrong to just throw them all away like that. I could have gotten it to work, and so could they.

Anyone else boycotting the new films/rebels/new books? I don't plan on watching/reading any of it. :/

I don't know if I'll boycott. I was never connected to the EU, so I'm not as outraged as you are. The news that's coming out about the new films (not counting the proposed spin-offs) is intriguing enough for me to want to watch the new movies (with exception to the spin-offs; it seems that they are over-saturating the market for Star Wars films and the idea of it is idiotic to me). For Rebels... I'm not sure. Some of it looks intriguing (and if they have an episode with Ahsoka, I will definitely watch that episode), but other stuff (especially their recent marketing) looks... childish and not worth my time. For the books, well, I already don't read them, so it doesn't matter if I boycott new ones or not.

I can understand that. And I agree, they are over-doing it on the marketing :p. And I agree, a lot of it seems childish.

The news about the EU crushed my soul and Disney shall pay for their crimes. But I could never boycott. Its Star Wars and I will love it forever. Although I am so crushed about the EU. Because that was what made me fall in love with SW in the first place. and to just essentially wipe it clean is just ridiculous. the authors but in so much work and effort. so much was put into the EU for it to just be no more than published fan fanfiction. its heartbreaking.

I agree, it is definitely heartbreaking :( Though, I have decided to still consider the EU canon, I won't be watching the new movies or rebels, or read the new books.

Anyone else boycotting the films? I absolutely refuse to go and see the new movies, watch Rebels, or read the new books.

I'm sad that Disney got rid of the EU. I wasn't overly thrilled with some of the new EU so I'm using this as an opportunity to pick and choose what I want as canon.
