Hey Girls! I haven't been on here in soo long. I've just been busy with work and life. In January I celebrated my website's 2nd anniversary, and made a few announcements about my plans for the year. I haven't posted much since then, but I have another post going up tomorrow. I've mostly been working on my facebook page for my design website and my instagram page. Building up a following on both, getting my name out there and stuff. I've also been doing more art alongside my designs which has been really fun. Links to all my pages and sites are below in my signature. Feel free to leave me any feedback you have. I'd love to hear it. How are you girls doing? Working on any cool projects?

It is DSK! I've been really busy lately and this past week I've had a bit of free time. I hope you're doing great! Thanks, I can't believe I've had my website 2 years now. I just put up a brand new blog post on there Tuesday, so I'm not sure if you've read it or not yet. Yes, lots of really cool stuff that I'm working on currently. We'll see where it goes over the coming months. Very Happy

Hey girls! It's been a while since I've been on here. I've been really busy with life and work and stuff. I recently just put up a new blog post about my thoughts on maybe opening an online art shop in the future to sell prints of my art and stuff. Anyways, I've been working on lots of art pieces. Haven't had any sudden sparks of design inspiration. I've been on instagram a lot so if you're on there definitely check out my page, along with my facebook and twitter if you want to know what I've been up to. All the links to my site are in my signature. What's new with you girls? Are you working on anything cool?

Hey girls! Wow, I can't believe it's been almost a whole year since I've posted on here. I've been busy with life as always. I did end up opening my online art shop last fall. I have made 4x6 prints of my art and bookmarks so far. But I'm always working on new things. I post a new art piece on my Facebook and Instagram each week which is fun. I have so many ideas for new pieces! I still post on both my art blog and Fun & Fandom. I post 2x a month on both and have even added videos to my posts. But yeah working on lots of art and of course watching lots of movies and tv. What's kinds of creative things are you girls working on? And of course as always if you are curious about what I've been working on check out the links in my signature. Very Happy

That is so awesome SWF! I think it is super cool that you are starting your own business and living every artist's dream!

Are there any tips you have for those of us who would like to pursue art related careers, particularly on marketing or getting yourself known?

Thanks DSK! I'm definitely trying to make it as an artist. I've been doing freelance art and design work since 2013 but since I've been doing more art lately I added an online shop just for that stuff.
I'm not sure I have any tips, as I'm still figuring out how to get myself known and have been struggling a bit to carve out my own dedicated following. I'd say make pages on social media like facebook, instagram, youtube, twitter, etc. Pick the 3-4 you think work best for showing off what you do best. A website is also important with all your information so people can find it easily and also as a place for you to keep your portfolio.
For me outside of my website, I use facebook for all general updates, big news, and then posting my work and when there's sales, instagram for mostly posting my work and then tagging it to relevant categories and sharing big news, and youtube for posting videos about art and myself. I recently started adding speedpaint videos with commentary so that lets people see a bit of my process and what goes into each piece. But with social media the sites change things especially facebook so its tough to figure out because once you figure everything out they change things on you again. Also numbers don't seem to matter as much as engagement does. You could have 500 followers but if people aren't interacting with your content those followers don't matter much. It's really tricky sometimes.
Here's the link to my art shop if anyone's curious about what I've made so far: www.shoprobynlindenmayer.storenvy.com
